To My Little Sister, Amanda, and my Nephew and Niece; Kelton and Andrea What better brother-in-law could anyone wish for, than one, who is also a very good friend. When I first met Paul it was when he lived by Darien Beach, before you were married. At that time I lived in Darien too and called in to visit you both. We would sit on the beach, chat and have a couple of cold beers. When the storm came, it flooded the beach house, and the water was up five stairs into the apartment, you couldn’t get in or out!!!! Every morning even before you were married, you, and Paul used to write little messages of love to each other, whoever was out of the house first would leave a note for the other, and this continued after you were married. Paul had a SERIOUS fear of heights and when you and Paul got married, no-one realised just what it took to get Paul onto that plane, including me, but it goes to show just how much he loved you. I learnt more about Paul when he and I drove to Michigan from Fairfield, when the strangest of driving habits appeared, every bridge we came to, regardless of traffic, Paul would pull into the middle lane. Eventually I asked him, ‘What’s wrong with the outside lane’, to which he replied ‘I don’t like heights, and don’t want to see over the edge’, that was the first time I knew of Paul’s fear of heights!! Paul told me stories about his Father, one such story was that his Father had a plane and used to fly down to college to visit him. He would take Paul up in the plane and then his Father would do funny manoeuvres with the plane, which terrified Paul so much, he developed a major fear of heights and of flying! The stories continued until we got to Hart, Michigan, where I met his parents – two wonderful people – Paul showed me around his home town and took me to Lake Michigan, he showed me the lighthouse and the sand dunes, they were HUGE, for a minute there I thought we were in the Sahara desert! The next day Paul and I, and His Father and his Father’s best friend headed to their hunting cabin where we spent the next couple of days hunting, and all the time telling stories. The morning I was leaving, Paul’s Father said ‘Come on Iris,h lets go shoot a deer’, so I see this deer, put the gun up to my shoulder and just as I was about to pull the trigger, ‘Bang’, I turned to Paul’s Father and said 'You S*?@ of a ?*@?*, you shot it from under my nose’, Paul’s Father turned around and says ‘You’re too Slow’, from in the woods came the sound of Paul’s laughter!! Paul and I headed back for Fairfield, and any time I ever spoke to Paul about hunting or fishing he would always say how he would love to go to Alaska Salmon fishing, sadly we never got the chance. I moved to Minnesota and when back in town, I would always visit Paul in the Town Hall and we would go out to lunch, many happy memories of days spent with Paul, even when I moved back home to Northern Ireland, when I was ‘back in town’, I would still visit Paul in the Town Hall and we would go out to lunch. The last time would have been August 2009, when I was ‘back in town’, he talked about building a new house, and said ‘this is one design I’m not involved in, this is your sister Amanda’s project’. The house was duly built and in July 2010 my Father and Mother were over and Paul told Dad that ‘I am so proud of my wife, she has done a magnificent job designing the house, so much so, I would not change a thing’. Paul would do anything for anybody, he was loving and caring, a fantastic brother-in-law, a wonderful Husband, the best Father and quite simply Paul was one in a Million. I will miss him unbelievably; he will always be in my thoughts and forever in my heart. No words can ever say just what Paul meant to me, and there are no words to say what Paul meant to you, Kelton and Andrea. My love is always with you, but now more than ever. I am here for you always, just a phone call away. All my Love your Brother and Uncle Alan.

Even though we haven't yet met and sadly I never got the chance to meet Paul, but Alan has told me so much about him it feels as though I did. The last thing my late Granddad said to me was... "I may be gone but I will live on in every smile you smile, every laugh you laugh, every memory you remember and every new one you create, every tear drop that falls I am there, yes I may be gone, but I am with you forever, in all that you do, because my love for you goes on forever and now I live in you." Those words I carry with me in my heart and I hope in some way they may help you all. Alan and I send you, Kelton and Andrea our love. To the Engemann's, my neighbors and friends. You have my greatest condolences for your loss. We will all miss Paul and the man he was, the presence he brought to us. He was part of a wonderful family that he and Amanda grew, a thick deep rooted tree that glowed. The glow and joy from the The Engemann's nourished all of our roots in the neighborhood (and it seems from all the stories I am reading; everyone they have ever known). Kelton and Andrea, you are two of the most bright and beautiful children I have ever known. I know that you, will be okay and grow into beautiful and wonderful adults. Amanda, that which you and Paul built around is strong, I know it will continue with your children and your life. I only wish that I was closer to home so that I could better help you through this difficult time. Know that you all have my heart with you. Rest in Peace Paul. Sincerely, Erica

Though the years took us in different directions and seperated us by so many miles, I will always remember and will keep close Paul's kindness, smile, and friendship. If only to have the opportunity to again walk with Paul in our hunting woods and to hear his voice, laughter, and to see his smile. My heart and my sincere love goes out to Paul's Family.

Amanda and family, I just heard 10 minutes ago about Paul. I am so sorry both for his passing and not being there with you at his services. I spoke to mom and she just told me. She is quite forgetful and forgot that we were friends and would want to go. I looked forever on line to get his obit. and finally called a random funeral home in Fairfield. An employee told me he saw his obit and that he was being waked here. It is now 5.35pm so there is no point in me even trying to get there in time. Please give me a call at 845 323 2977 when you get a chance. Also hello to your parents. Let me know if there is anything I can do for your or your children. Gloria and family.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of Paul. What a wonderful man. We met him when Andrea and our daughter Lili were in 1st grade and played rec soccer together. Victor and Paul went on to coach together for a few years. We enjoyed his company immensly. His love for his children was so evident. He always had a kind comment for the girls and for our son Nicholas. Just this last Sunday we sat together at the girls' game, shooting the breeze about this or that. He and Victor joked that they had taught the girls "everything they knew about soccer". I honestly can't imagine soccer without Paul. We teased Andrea and Lili on the field last Sunday, and they laughed and made faces at us. We are grateful to have known such a wonderful man, and we will truly miss him.

I was deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Paul's passing that I received just this morning. I met Paul when Kelton decided to pursue his BSA Archery Merit Badge and I was his counselor. Paul was always attentive and involved when he chaparoned our sessions. He would regularly thank me for my efforts and say nice things about the job I was doing with the Scouts. His appreciation of my efforts encouraged me and made me feel good about what I was doing. I would look forward to seeing him, and found him to be a true "gentle giant" of a man. However, a truer measure of Paul's character is his son Kelton. Kelton was always respectful, enthusiastic, engaged, polite, and joyful during our archery sessions. He is a bright, happy young man that any father would be proud of. Please accept my sincerest and deepest condolences for your untimely and unthinkable loss. Sincerely, William Mollica
