Obituary of Jean Ward Boland

Jean Ward Boland of Rowayton, loving wife of John J. Boland, was embraced by her family as she expired in peace December 19, 2013. Born in 1926, Jean was the daughter of Thomas P. and Sarah (Sadie) Ward of Montclair, NJ. Jean spent her life devoted to her husband, their 6 children and 15 grandchildren, and will continue to be a cornerstone of their lives. She will be missed by everyone who came to know her, a woman of great compassion and warmth. In addition to her husband John, survivors include Jay, Bruce, Susan, Bobby and Melissa. Their daughter Deb died earlier this year. Grandchildren who will miss her are Stuart, Clifford, Olivia, Spencer, Kelly, Delaney, Patrick, Kaleen, Brennan, Reilly, Shannon, Zachary, Caroline and Jack. Jean and John have been married for 64 years, and to her death remained constantly devoted. Jean's grace, and enthusiasm for her family and friends, will always be remembered. A wake will be held Sunday, December 22 at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road in Darien from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m., with a funeral Mass to be held Monday, December 23 at 10 a.m. at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 1986 Post Road in Darien.
