Obituary of Evelyne Lang

Evelyne "Ev" Lang, a resident of Norwalk, CT, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010 in Norwalk. Born on January 26, 1935 in Vienna, Austria, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Erika Bettleheim Hirsch. She was 75. Evelyne was a Spanish major at Barnard College and graduated in 1955, Magna Cum Laude and was a Phi Beta Kappa. She also graduated from Columbia University in 1957 with a master's degree in Spanish.
Evelyne was a photojournalist/writer in Asia, Latin America and Africa. She published six children's books and was a volunteer Holocaust educator. Her photos and work for clients including the Rockefeller Foundation, the World Bank, WHO, Unicef, General Motors, MacMillan, Grolier, W.R. Grace & Co., Life Magazine, IBM, Upjohn, Pfizer, Time Books, and the New York times among others.
She is survived by one daughter, Lynn Blank of Rowayton, CT and one grand-daughter, Sophie. A Service was held at her home on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in Norwalk. A private family interment was held at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
