Obituary of Janet Brendel Montgomery

Janet Brendel Montgomery, a resident of Darien, CT, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 3, 2016 in Darien. Born on August 2, 1933 in Quincy, MA, she was the daughter of the late Emelyn and Louis Brendel. She was 83. Jan grew up in Fairfield, CT, graduating from the local Roger Ludlowe High School, and later received her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI. Jan was a textile designer for a number of years in New York, NY prior to her marriage to Richard Montgomery in 1959. She was a beloved wife for 57 years and mother of three children. She was active in numerous local civic and church-related associations in Darien. She is survived by her husband, Richard Montgomery and her children, Richard and Susan G. Montgomery of Atlanta, GA; Scott and Sarah G. Montgomery of Carmel, NY; and Susan M. Kammler of New Canaan, CT. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Montgomery of Atlanta, GA, Lucas, Matthew, and Joshua Montgomery of Carmel, NY and Austin and Cole Kammler of New Canaan, CT. She was predeceased by her brother Jo Brendel. A Memorial Service will be held at a location and time to be specified by the family.
