Martha Ann Tyler Saunders Fox, of Darien, CT, died in Norwalk Hospital on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the age of 79. Born in Boston, MA on February 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Blakely and Roger Browne Tyler.
Marsie was educated at The Beaver Country Day School in Brookline, MA and Bennington College in Bennington, VT. She was an avid sportsman and she was also devoted to her years of work for Planned Parenthood at Tot’s and Teens in Darien.
Marsie loved people and had many friends both at home and Englewood, FL where she spent the winter months. She sailed at The Noroton Yacht Club, played golf at Silvermine Golf Club, and tennis at Beach Drive in Darien. She was also a past member of The Middlesex Club and a fine swimmer. Her interests included music and photography, both of which she enjoyed on her beloved computer.
She is survived by five children, Robin Saunders of Sunapee, NH; Holly Saunders Hawes of Darien, CT; William Saunders of Fairfield, CT; Lee Saunders Gaw of Nantucket, MA and Edward “Ned” Saunders of Newtown, CT and their spouses. She was predeceased by her daughter Jody Saunders Richard, as she was by her husband of 36 years, William Kenneth Saunders. She leaves fourteen grandchildren and one great grandson.
She is also survived by her husband of 21 years, James B. Fox and his children, William Fox of Cape Elizabeth, ME and Jean Deolp of Acton, MA and their families. She is also survived by her brother William Blakely Tyler of Weston, MA; her sister Margaret Tyler Stetson of Barneveld, NY and nine nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Road, Darien on Friday, November 2, 2007 at 11:30 AM. The Edward Lawrence Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
