Anne Morrell Walsh, 83, died on October 24, 2007 in Darien. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1924, she was the daughter of Alice and Frank Morrell.
Mrs. Walsh lived and raised her family in Garden City, N.Y. She and her husband, George J. Walsh, moved to Darien in 1994 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. She became a member of the Darien Community Association and was an active member of the Book Group.
She attended St. Angela’s Hall Academy in Brooklyn and earned an art degree at Pratt Institute, leading to a lifelong interest in painting, architecture, antiques and interior design. She married Mr. Walsh in 1948. She loved reading, cooking and gathering family and friends together. She was known for her warmth and sense of style.
Mrs. Walsh is survived by her husband; three daughters, Anne Ross of Darien, Regina Walsh of New Canaan, and Alice Shapiro of New Hope, Pa.; a son, George M. Walsh of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; a brother, Dr. James Morrell of Blue Bell, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road in Darien on Friday, Oct. 26th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass will be celebrated at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road in Darien on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m. A private burial will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
