Stell J. Tomczyk, a 58-year resident of Stamford, CT, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2007 in Stamford. Born in 1911 in Holyoke, MA, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Aniela (Klos) Usowski. She was 96.

Stell worked alongside her husband and children at the family business, Homestyle Bakery in Cos Cob, in the 1950’s and 1960’s and continued to bake throughout her life.

Her strength of mind and giving spirit were remarkable. Her life centered on her family. Her home was filled with their pictures and she spent every holiday cooking and baking for those she loved. Gardening also brought her joy – she delighted in seeing her plants and flowers thrive.

She is survived by a son, Anthony T. Tomczyk and his wife Geraldine, a daughter, Marilyn Trefry and her husband, Robert, a daughter-in-law, Lois Tomczyk all of Stamford and ten grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Ann Thompson of Greenwich, Bertha Thompson of Redding, CT and many nieces, nephews and great nieces. She is predeceased by her husband Anthony J. Tomczyk, a son Edward Tomczyk, one brother Anthony Usowski, one sister Kathryn Rudzinski and three grandsons.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 29, 2007 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 29, 2007 at 11:30 AM at the Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Greenwich.
