David Mercer Robbins passed away on February 14, 2014, after suffering two cardiac arrests. Born April 13, 1955, he was a lifelong resident of Riverside and Greenwich.
After 18 years working in the banking business, he left his position as a Vice President of Greenwich Federal Savings Bank and accepted his dream job to work for the town of Greenwich on the maintenance crew. He dearly loved the outdoors and doing physical work which changed with the seasons. He was especially delighted with his most recent assignment at Pinetum where he looked forward to creating planting designs for traffic islands and borders. He enjoyed fishing, boating and sports and was quite proud of his home, his garden and his koi pond.
His gentle, sincere and generous spirit endeared him to all who knew him, and he enjoyed a large circle of friends throughout his life. He was always available to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved people, had a great love for his family, and will be greatly missed.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nathaly O. Robbins and Elizabeth B. Doyle and by his wife of 18 years, Kerry Krebsbach Robbins. He is survived by his fianc, Donna Marie Charette, and his sisters, Blair Robbins of Seattle, WA and Waller R. Walker of Mystic, CT. He is also survived by his nephew Robert Barney Walker II of Darien, his niece Blair Walker Tarara of Cumberland, RI, and his Aunt Sallie Luers of Port Townsend, WA. Also a great niece and three great nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at Christ Church, 254 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich on Saturday, March 1, at 1:00 PM. Interment will be private.
