Obituary of Ann Teresa Rowan

Ann Teresa Rowan, a longtime resident of Darien, died at home on January 29, 2011 from complications from Parkinson's disease. She was eighty one years old. Mrs. Rowan was the wife of Joseph Rowan for forty-eight years. She was born in New York City on July 13, 1929 to the late Anne Whelan and Patrick Dwyer. Mrs. Rowan and her family moved to Darien in 1972. She was a member of St. Thomas More Church and the Darien Community Association where she was involved with the Program for the Blind and the Garden Club. Mrs. Rowan was also an active participant in the YWCA's International Club. Among her favorite pastimes were painting and playing bridge with her friends. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Rowan is survived by her daughter, Ann Dickson of Darien and her son Paul Rowan of New York City. She is also survived by four sisters and a brother, all of New York and her son-in-law Tom and two grandchildren, Thomas and William Dickson. Calling hours are Wednesday, February 2 from 4:00 to7:00 PM at Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. John Roman Catholic Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 3.
