Obituary of Gjon Shtufaj

Gjon Shtufaj, 78, a resident of Darien, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Born on May 13, 1932 in Kosovo, he was the son of the late Mark and File Shtufaj. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Martha Shtufaj; by his four children, Rock Shtufaj and his wife, Margarita; Albina David and her husband, Edward; Linda Santoro and her husband, Scott; and Tony Shtufaj and his wife, Bora. He also leaves five grandchildren, who meant the world to him, Nicholas, Christian, Kaitlyn, Jasmine and Michael. Gjon is predeceased by his brothers Pashk and George Shtufaj. After working for 17 yeas at Connecticut Transit in Stamford, Gjon retired and became the Vice President of Norwalk Taxi, Inc. As a young man, Gjon fought against communism in his homeland and recently was honored for his bravery by the President of Gjakova. He will be forever loved and missed by his family and all who had the honor of knowing him. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 10:00 AM at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
