Obituary of Vincent Robert O'Toole

Vincent Robert O'Toole, a resident of New Bern, NC, a former resident of Darien and Weston, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2008 in New Bern, NC. He was born in the family home in Darien in 1924, the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Roddy) O'Toole. He was 83.
Vince graduated from Darien High School in 1941. He was a member of the Darien Old Timers Athletic Association and was honored by the Old Timers in 1984. He was also a member of the International Order of Characters.
Vince was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in New Bern, NC. He served in the Air Force as a B24 Pilot during World War II and he proudly participated in the Berlin Air Lift. After 35 years of service, he retired from American Airlines.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Candace O'Toole; two sisters, Catherine O'Toole and Margaret Byrnes and three brothers, Thomas, James and Frank O'Toole. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lonnie O'Toole of New Bern, NC; one son, V. Robert O'Toole, Jr. of Bellview, FL; three daughters, Maureen Collins of Salem, CT; Leslie O'Toole of Norwalk, CT and Kerie O'Toole of Powell's Point, NC; one brother, John O'Toole of Darien, CT; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial mass was held at St. Paul Catholic Church in New Bern, NC on Monday, March 31, 2008. A memorial mass will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 11:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. John Cemetery, Darien.
