Obituary of Ralph V. Mattera

RALPH V. MATTERA 75, of Darien, formerly of Norwalk, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Norwalk Hospital. Born in Norwalk on May 10, 1932, he was the son of the late Valentino and Francis Mattera. Mr. Mattera attended J.M. Wright Technical School in Stamford and was a carpenter by trade. He worked many years for Gran Construction and then 20 years for the Darien Board of Education. He served in the U.S. Army. He was an avid gardener, cook and also enjoyed fishing and clamming. Ralph is survived by his wife of 50 years, Rose; his daughter, Julie Buch of Darien; two sons Robert of Norwalk and Richard and his wife Tracy of North Carolina. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, Kelly, Bobby, Nicole, Ryan, Allyson and Lauren; and twin sisters, Josephine Monteleone and Connie Parsons of Winter Haven, Florida. He was predeceased by his brother, Vincent Mattera of Winter Haven, Florida. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 8, at Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, from 4:00 to 8:00.
