Obituary of John A. Johnson
Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
John A. (JJ) Johnson cast off for his final voyage on December 20, 2020. A gentleman, scholar, and friend to all who knew him, JJ loved the sea. He spent many happy years bill fishing off Nantucket on the Trader 5 and was an accomplished mariner and a licensed Captain. JJ retired from Norwalk Cove Marina where he worked in many capacities for 35 years and made enduring friendships along with wonderful memories.
Skippers, Dry Dock, and Ernie’s were his familiar ports of call, and he always reminded his mates to “just cover the rocks.” JJ loved with all his heart and wept with joy for friends and relatives in their good times and with sorrow in their times of grief.
And now, dear JJ, we weep with grief at the loss of you, our dear, kind friend. While we are sad that the virus pandemic will prohibit us from saying our farewells in person, be assured that we will miss your gentle presence, and your kind and generous spirit.
Until we meet again, Cappy, in that safe harbor where you now rest, know that you are loved and deeply missed.
