Dimitris, my brother, was a very interesting person. Uncountable polite, intelligent, calm and collected, honest. That’s why he was trusted by all his friends. He was a man who would never beat the odds. He was a generous and great-hearted person and when our mother used to ask him “what about money? Do you have any?”, he replied …“Sand”. He was interested in the others. He, once, saved from food choking his best man’s little daughter. Everybody appreciated his charisma. Moreover, he was a handsomely attractive man like a greek god on mount Olympus or a Hollywood star. His father was a Greek Army Officer who was killed during World War II and his mother was a teacher. He missed his family a lot and that is one more reason that drove him to the raising of his son, Theodosios, and his grandsons. And Theodosios embraced him with love all through his last difficult years. The interest Dimitris had for all the people around him was genuine and for his family was “total”. I remember the discussions we had and his worries about the greek economic crisis. I could write a series of books about this magnificent man. Personally, for me he was my epitome, my icon, my idol, my life mentor. I tried to copy all his behavior and life movements. I thank Theodosios and his family for taking such a good care of him during the last difficult years of his life. I am sorry I could not be with him. Have a peaceful journey to paradise. May the earth that embraces you be light and soft.
