*** I’m in awe of mom (& dad) for taking care of 3 generations of kids...and it goes without saying that Rick & Anthony were her world, their world *** ———————————————————- To me, Mom was a little of everything. She was strong, tough, resilient, gutsy, had straight-shooter humor, was boss of the house and she knew how to use her Sicilian temper. On the other hand, she was a softy...easy-going, never complained, passive, compassionate (particularly w/children, church)..she was shy or timid at times. Growing up, Mom working outside the home impacted me the most. I learned from her being a go-getter, determined, hard working , self-motivated, street savvy woman. Sales was her calling and she was amazing at it: always being a top salesperson, newspaper articles written about her, she was sought after from other companies , when she sold cars the manager often called her in to close a sale for a male co-worker who couldn’t . Her nickname at work became “the closer”. For this, in particular, made me very proud of my mother because it taught me to be a strong, independent woman who can do anything a man can. Although her work and life ethics were amazing, my sisters and I weren’t too keen about it carrying over into the household as she ruled with an “iron fist”. On the soft/fun side of mom, although she enjoyed a simple and uncomplicated life, I thought she was a cool mother. She would drive us to Ticketmaster waiting in line early so we could get the best seats before the concert sold out, take us for trendy decal tshirts & high top colored Converse and bring us to professional basketball, football & hockey games. Mom (& dad for that matter), taught us girls to be hard working, respectful, caring, compassionate, independent women... and to always try our best with whatever we did. Mom wasn’t perfect and she never tried to be ... & I love that ! It wasn’t until I was a young adult that I realized what mom was about and who she was to me. I remember thinking, one day when I get married I want her to be my made-of-honor because she’s my best friend . I always joked with mom that, even though she didn’t have any baby pictures of me, she was still my favorite mother . I’ll miss her sassiness, candid sense of humor and one liners. Love you mom ❤️❤️

I know your hearts must be heavy at the loss of your family matriarch, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend. She loved hard and lived life according to her own terms. She was great-grandmother to my grandchildren and therein lies our commonality, love and respect. I offer my sincerest condolences. May she rest in perpetuity alongside her beloved,,Walter. God bless

I was saddened to learn of your mother’s passing, and at the same time, of your father’s as well. I have very fond memories of them both, and I enjoyed hearing updates about them and the boys through the years. I will remember Carmela’s kindness and the extent of her love and devotion to her (great) grandchildren. I know she has found peace and is reunited with Walter, and I hope that offers a measure of consolation to you and your entire family.
