Obituary of Joan Mary Gorman
Joan Mary Gorman, a resident of Naples, Florida and Westerly, Rhode Island died peacefully at Stamford Hospital on Sunday, June 28, 2026, after a brief battle with an aggressive pancreatic cancer. Her last days were spent surrounded by her loving husband, daughters, and family. She was born in Staten Island, NY to Nicholas and Catherine (Pierzynkowski) Brozean.
Joan earned her master’s degree at NYU School of Engineering. Joan changed the banking industry with her introduction of the adjustable rate mortgage and HELOCS. She provided strategic leadership of the IT Department of the Marco Island Yacht Club and taught financial literacy classes at San Miguel Academy of Newburgh. She married Gerry Gorman in 2006 and they shared a loving marriage together the last 20 years. Joan touched the lives of everyone she met and her positive attitude was infectious. She spread happiness and kindness every day and her heart was filled and overflowing with love for everyone.
Survived by her devoted husband, Gerry; three daughters, Teresa, Cristina (Nick), and Katie; two grandsons, Brayden and Reid, and a soon-to-arrive granddaughter; her sister, Diane (Jim) and a niece and nephews.
A Mass will be held Thursday July 2, 2026 at 11:00 AM at St John’s Church, 1986 Post Road in Darien. Following Mass, Joan will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan followed by a reception to celebrate Joan's life at the Country Club of Darien. All are welcome.
