I met Mrs. Gorman on my very first day at MIYC. My office was totally empty, without any furniture. She jumped in right away and helped me choose furniture and set up my new office! I remember her telling me that whenever she moved into a new house, her mom used to come over and set up her kitchen. I thought that was so cute, and ever since then I have moved twice, and I have asked my mom to come set up my kitchen. It was a great way for my mom to feel helpful and us to bond, and I owe that special tradition to Mrs. G! Mrs. G was always helping us out at the club, and seemed more like staff than a member sometimes, which we loved to joke about with her. She was always happy to answer questions no matter how silly they were. I know we all felt like we could ask her anything and she would patiently donate her time to explain it or sit next to us at the computer and show us step by step. Mrs. G always had a big smile and had a warmth about her that was contagious! Her positive attitude and endless energy is something I will take with me forever. She will be greatly missed by the entire staff here at MIYC, although we know she always with us.
Mr. G, when you come back in town, you always have a family here that will take care of you and have a big glass of wine waiting for you!

When we first met Joan and Gerry at the Marco Island Yacht Club, it just instantly became a very special evening. Gerry and I were deep in a conversation about how he needed to work on the yacht club bookkeeping with me ( I am such a geek) and Jim and Joan were just having a good time laughing. Joan became my very best friend in a world were I did not have friends. She shared everything that girlfriends share and we just enjoyed each other's company. To say that Joan was joyful for her life was an understatement despite all of the hardships she had been through. Her laughter and giggling is contagious and it will ring in my ears for all eternity, giving me joy and remembering to view the glass as half full and want more!!
Jim and I will miss you Joan, in more ways than you can count. Our love will always be with you and your love will always be with us.
