I extend my condolences to the McCormick family. I admire how you all worked together and made your Mom happy and safe throughout the later years of her life.
I met Mrs McCormick when I was a teenager in Darien in the early 70's. I recognized immediately that she was an exceptional person. Young readers of this obituary might not understand how much courage and independence it would have taken for a woman in Darien in the 60s and early 70s to publicly espouse progressive values. It was a very conservative environment.
On a personal note Mrs McCormick was always so kind and welcoming to me, even though apparently my father had been her arch-enemy during the battle over planning for the new Darien High School -it was so magnanimous of her to not hold it against me! Love to you all, Katherine (KM) Austin
