Obituary of Patricia Doyle Burgevin
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Patricia Doyle Burgevin announces her passing on January 23, 2026, after a valiant thirteen-year fight with carcinoid, a rare neuroendocrine cancer.
Born in White Plains, NY, daughter of Marguerite and Vinson Doyle, Patricia grew up in Darien, CT, graduated from Darien High School and from Chamberlain School of Retailing in Boston, MA.
Patricia had a stellar fifty-year New York retailing career culminating as Executive Vice President and Director of Advertising for Lord & Taylor. Her professional expertise and talent in merchandising procurement and print production also included consulting with Mead Consumer/Office Products and Madame Alexander Dolls. In later years, with her effortless fashion flair, she skillfully styled her many clients at the Darien Sport Shop and Ralph Lauren in New Canaan. In fact, Ralph Lauren personally complimented Pat remarking that he loved the way she styled her own RL vintage pieces.
Patricia and her husband, Michael (deceased) retired to the quaint village of Bainbridge, NY where they dedicated their efforts to recognize the town's historic preservation. In addition, they worked tirelessly restoring their 1890 Queen Ann home and adjacent 1902 Silk Mill, for which they were successful in obtaining listings on the National and State Registries of Historic Places.
A red-headed fashionista, Patricia had a zest for life, was a lover of all genres of music from Billie Holiday to Bruce Springsteen and everything in between, all kinds of dancing, flea markets, sunny days, Weed and Nauset beaches, walks in Waveny Park, MINI-Coopers, dragonflies, vanilla ice cream, the color green moss, and especially her smooth-haired fox terriers, Tux, Rex, Cornelius and Halley.
Our Patricia (a/k/a Pat, Patsy, Patty, dtlgm) enjoyed life's simple pleasures and was happiest in the company of those she loved most. Family and her beloved dogs were everything to her.
She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by all who have had the privilege of knowing her.
Patricia leaves behind her four sisters, Katherine McAuliffe, Colleen Fraccola (James), Maureen Doyle, and Shannon Clinton (John), her five stepchildren, Michele, Philip (deceased), Renée, Jan and Julie. Patricia also leaves behind her beloved Spence. She was cherished by her seven nieces and nephews and blessed with ten great grandnieces and grandnephews, all who adored their Aunt Pat.
A "Celebration of a Life Well Lived" will be held at a later date in Dutchess County, NY.
The family would very much appreciate any memorial donations in Patricia D. Burgevin's honor be made to the Carcinoid Cancer/Neuroendocrine Cancer Foundation, a valued non-for-profit organization she relied on throughout her arduous health journey.
