In Loving Memory of Joan "Joanie" Cioffi
Joan Cioffi, our beloved "Joanie," our cherished "Nunna", passed away at 87 years young, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, strength, and fierce love.
She was the kind of mom daughters dream about and the kind of grandmother kids can't get enough of. She was that woman. The one whose presence lit up a room. The one whose laugh was contagious. The one whose dance moves could outshine anyone on the floor. When you were with her, you felt loved. Truly loved.
And if you made her mad? You definitely knew about it.
Joanie leaves behind her devoted daughter, Serina Dansker, her son-in-law Brad Dansker, and her adored grandchildren, Lexi and Jake. Her third grandchild, Scott, is with her now and we can only imagine the two of them dancing together again. For so many years, Joan and her daughter shared a bond so deep and strong that even now it remains unbreakable.
Joanie loved life and she played it to win. She was a fierce Gin Rummy opponent, had impressive poker skills, and never let any of us forget that she could beat us at Monopoly year after year. She loved puzzles, scratch-offs by the pool, and a good card game with family. While the kids splashed and laughter filled the backyard, she would sit right in the middle of it all — soaking in every moment. Lexi and Jake are the excellent card players they are today because of their Nunna. She taught them well.
She could dance anyone under the table and loved live music. Though she may not have been on the dance floor every Friday night anymore, you could find her at Bingo and surrounded by family on Weekends. She was loved by so many and was always exactly where she wanted to be, in the heart of the action, with the people she loved most.
Visitation will be held at Lawrence Funeral Home in Darien, CT, on Sunday, March 1, 2026, from 1-4 pm. Celebration of life to follow at The Waters Edge at Giovanni's.
