Robert Beachem Kling died September 16, 2025 at home in Darien, with his family at his side. He was 94 years old. Born November 12, 1930 in New York City, he grew up in Darien, attending Darien elementary and middle schools, followed by three years at the Westminster School in Simsbury, Connecticut. He graduated from Yale University in 1952, and was drafted into the Navy where he became a lieutenant stationed in Washington D.C., working in intelligence. Following the Navy, he graduated from Columbia University with a Masters in Business Administration. He spent his career in finance at International Paper Company in New York City, and later with Franklin Templeton Investments. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, and their two daughters, Sarah and Catherine. He is predeceased by his younger brother, Peter M.B. Kling Jr. and his foster-brother, Ian Hay Davison. A private service was held at the First Congregational Church of Darien, where his family have been members for three generations.
