Obituary of Frederick C. Fichtel

Frederick (Fred) C. Fichtel, 85, of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away on Tuesday evening, September 23, 2025. 

Born on March 1, 1940, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to the late George and Lorraine Fichtel, Fred built a long career in the printing business, eventually serving as President of Independent Printing Company in New York City. 

A devoted dog lover, he cared for his own pets and those of his neighbors with compassion throughout his life. He cherished time spent on the water, whether fishing or boating with family, and never passed up a vanilla ice cream cone or a chocolate shake. 

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Oradee Fichtel; his children, Robert Fichtel (Carrie) and Michael Fichtel (Teresa); his former wife, Ann Roberts; his grandchildren, Caitlin Fichtel-May (Adam) and Alanna Fichtel-Hilder (Gavin); his sister-in-law, Patricia Goodson; his brother-in-law, John Goodson (Sylvena); and a large extended family in Germany.
