Obituary of Anthony Samuel Albero

Anthony Samuel Albero (Tony), aged 98 of Darien, CT died peacefully on Monday, September 15th surrounded by family at his home in Darien. Born on October 12, 1926, he was the son of Aniello and Filomena Albero. He graduated from Stamford High School and soon after began working at Yale and Towne. Tony was a sergeant in the Army and fought in World War II.

Although he did not have a family of his own, he helped to raise generations of nieces and nephews and was often found in the car line picking one of them up from school or entertaining them with games of checkers, Mario Brothers, pool volleyball, whiffle ball and so many others. Tony was an avid gardener, crossword puzzle master and passionate pinochle player.

He is predeceased by his brothers Anthony and John (Viola) Albero, sister Madeline Roman, niece Barbara Manjuck and nephew-in-law, Anthony Conetta and survived by his brothers Thomas and Frank (Maria) Albero, brother-in-law Jose Roman, nephews John (Pam) and Niel (Kendra) Albero and nieces Jacqueline Conetta, Cheryl (Frank) Poltrack, Jo-Ann (Michael) Sawitsky, Debi (Rick) Albee, Laura Reid and Phyllis (Patrick) Lefoley along with 17 great nieces and nephews and 10 great-great nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held at Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Boston Post Road, Darien, CT on Saturday, September 20th from 10 am to Noon with a service immediately following. In lieu of flowers please send donations to Wounded Warrior Project
