Obituary of Barbara Herbert Saverine

Barbara Herbert Saverine, a longtime resident of Stamford and Darien, passed away on Tuesday April 15, 2025. She was born to the late John Edward Herbert Sr. and Kathleen Tymon Herbert on October 30, 1941.

Barbara was a graduate of Darien High School, class of 1958 along with her husband Robert. She received a bachelor's degree at Skidmore College. Following time as a social worker, Barbara joined the family business Darien Fuel, working as a Vice President until her retirement at the ripe young age of 79.

She married Robert P. Saverine in 1966 and raised her three children in Stamford. Barbara loved spending her free time with her family. She loved old movies and could recite minute details about them while watching her favorite channel TCM. Barbara was a longtime member of the Country Club of Darien where she enjoyed golf with many friends and family.

She is survived by her husband Robert Saverine of Stamford CT, daughters Brooke Kreitler (Scott) of Weston, Dana Donahue, son Sloan Saverine (Jill) of Darien and four grandchildren, Aiden Kreitler, Avery Kreitler, Lily Saverine and Al Donahue V.

She is also survived by sister-in-law Lyn Nevins-Herbert of Darien, niece Dr. Chrissy Nevins-Herbert and nephew Johnny Nevins-Herbert along with her too many to count extended family of cousins.

Burial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's memory to the scholarship fund in name of her late brother John Herbert Jr. at Post 53 in Darien, 0 Ledge Road, Darien CT 06820.
