Obituary of Marion L. Dailey

Marion Louise Dailey of Stamford, CT passed away peacefully in her home on April 9, 2025. She was born on April 12, 1933 in Pelham Manor to Edward J. and Anne Wahl Dailey. Marion graduated from Pelham High School and Rosemont College. She worked in the 1960's as a social worker in the Manhattan Children's Court for the division of Catholic Charities.

She joined a national temporary office services company becoming the first female to be name Vice-President of National Services. Marion relocated to Stamford, Ct in the 1970's and co-founded her own company, Connecticut Temporaries, with her good friend the late Ted Youngling, which was later acquired in 1988. She retired in 1991 and founded the Marion L. Dailey Charitable Foundation.

Marion proudly served on the Board of Trustees of Rosemont College for 11 years and continued on as Honorary Trustee. In 2015 the college awarded her an honorary PhD degree in recognition of her work in the 1960's and 1970's assisting women transitioning from home maker to the work force.

Marion traveled extensively throughout Canada, USA, Central and South America, and Europe, repeatedly to Ireland. She made friends for life wherever she went, and will certainly be missed by all those who knew and loved her around the world.

She is survived by her niece, Christine Pool Ward of Potomac, MD and nephew Barry M. Pool, Jr., his wife Emer of Montclair, NJ, and by her ten grand-nieces and nephews who adored her, several God-Children, and by the many generations of the Sims Family of Columbia, SC. She is also dearly missed by her longtime caregiver Gigi Dousainvil, who was by her side for these past 12 years.

A viewing will be held at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien, CT 06820 on Monday, April 21, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea, 1200 Shippan Ave., Stamford, CT. A private burial will be immediately following afterwards at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 10 W. Stevens Ave, Hawthorne, NY.
