Carolyn was my Godmother. Although I didn’t get to see her very often, I always enjoyed corresponding with her. When I didn’t hear from her at Christmas, I feared that she might have passed away or was in hospice. I just found this site today, and want to offer my deepest condolences to Henry and the rest of her family. She was a kind person, and may she rest in peace.

To know Carolyn… Was to be loved by Carolyn. And to be loved by Carolyn was to be seen, celebrated and heard.
Carolyn‘s office was a place you could show up to and never be turned away. There was always time for whatever it was you that brought you to her.
Carolyn knew who I was long before I learned what it was that made me tick, she helped me discover what I believed in and helped me find what got me excited and what I was passionate about.
Carolyn remembered everything - every birthday, every birth of niece and nephew, every student teaching placement, every apartment move, every business expansion, every race I ran Carolyn found a way to donate to my fundraising efforts.
But that’s not the most important thing about Carolyn .
The most important thing about Carolyn is that what felt like a experience unique to me was universal. The love and care and presence and kindness that Carolyn showed to me, she showed 100s of other alumni over her 35 years at Fairfield. She must have been VIP status at her local post office for all the hand calligraphy cards she sent out to alumni. Never missing a milestone.
It’s almost hard to be sad at the loss of Carolyn because thinking about her immediately brings a smile to my face - the smile she greeted me with every time I saw her, the presence she had every minute I spent with her.
Carolyn was truly one of a kind.
I am who I am because Carolyn had such a deep impact on my life since the day I met her and at every high and low milestone since.
It feels fitting she passed away just before Valentine’s Day so every year when I pull out my pink and red paper and the kids start making imperfectly perfect valentines for family and friends…I will think of Carolyn (the once art teacher she was) and the deep impact she had on my life during some of my most formative years.
Love you, Carolyn

Carolyn was my neighbor for the past 9 years in Darien. My children adored her and drew pictures for her often. She always replied with candy and a heart felt note for them. She was special person and I'll miss the conversations we'd had. God bless her and her family. Rest in Peace.
Love always,
Brett, Sarah, Campbell, and Nell.

Carolyn has been a steadfast friend of mine for more than 60 years, beginning decades ago in our mutual hometown of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and continuing through our years as teachers and graduate school students in Boston and at Columbia University. Following our marriages, life took us in many directions, but we continued to weave in and out of each other's lives, never forgetting birthdays, anniversaries, Holy Days, and delighting in sharing our experiences as educators of children and young people. Her deep faith, curiosity, caring ways, commitment to spiritual growth - coupled with her delight in simple things such as a juicy hamburger or a large bowl of vanilla ice cream are just a few the many things that come to mind as I mourn her loss.
I was fortunate to be able to spend a peaceful afternoon, overnight and morning with her at her home in January, not very long before her death. The last thing we did together was enjoy some delicious chocolate eclairs and recall how good life has been to us. Her eyes were still sparkling when we said goodbye. God bless you, dear Carolyn. You enriched the lives of so many people, including mine.

Eternal rest and peace to Carolyn and my deepest condolences to her family. I worked in campus ministry at Fairfield with Carolyn and became a Eucharistic Minister through her EM Retreat program. She was a profoundly loving, caring, joyful, and empathetic person. A wonderful soul. Please be assured of my prayers.
