Obituary of Warren Aaron Ransom III
It is with devastating sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Warren Aaron Ransom, III of Darien, CT. After a long and courageous battle with depression, Warren's pain became unbearable. He died on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at age 55. Known by several different monikers including Warren, Randy, Shafty, Rand, Uncle, and his favorite, "Dad," Warren was an intelligent, eccentric, and darkly funny person. He was also one of the most kind and gentle men you could know.
Warren was born in New York City on December 24, 1969, the son of Laurie Ransom (nee Patrono) and Warren Aaron Ransom, Jr. He grew up in Rye, NY with his parents and siblings Nick and Ashley. Warren is survived by his wife Shelly Pate Ransom, his two sons Ren (aged 22) and Avery (aged 20), his mother Laurie Ransom (Colin Schmidt), his brother Nicholas Ransom (Yvette Maestas), and his sister Ashley Ransom, as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who were as dear to him as his immediate family.
Warren loved to learn. He voraciously read all he could about the latest scientific, technological, and medical advances. He was a prolific writer who enjoyed crafting captivating stories. His keen eye for detail made him an excellent editor and an engaging storyteller.
Warren spoiled his family and friends with his talent for cooking delicious meals. Experimenting in the kitchen fueled his creativity, allowed him to explore innovative ideas and flavors, and led him to start and manage several websites, including SushiFAQ.com, where he combined his writing expertise with his love for food to educate and inspire others.
Remembrances will be held in May in Connecticut and in July in Quebec, with details for each to be announced. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to one of the following organizations: nami.org, afsp.org, or rainn.org.
