Gloria Ann Hardy Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Gloria Sellon Hardy, 89, announce that Gloria passed on March 17, 2024, in Darien, Connecticut after a long battle with dementia. Before moving to Darien, Gloria resided for many years in Olney, Maryland and Annapolis, Maryland.




Gloria was born on October 11, 1934, to Arthur and Marjorie Sellon of Easton, Massachusetts. After graduating from Oliver Ames High School in Easton, Massachusetts, Gloria attended the University of Maine at Orono and the Chamberlin School of Fashion Merchandising in Boston, MA. She worked in the fashion industry full-time for 13 years before leaving to raise her family, Gloria continued her love of fashion by holding part-time positions in boutique fashion throughout her life. She also volunteered for many years with the Sandy Springs Women's Board, the Montgomery General Hospital Thrift Store, St. John's Episcopal Church of Olney, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, and was an active member of the Eastport Yacht Club.




Gloria was predeceased by her husband Dr. Lester Babbitt Hardy and Arthur Hastings. She is survived by her daughters: Drew Hardy Jubert and Sara Hardy Young; sons-in-law: Thomas Jubert and David Young; and her grandchildren: Grace Jubert, Samuel Jubert, and Caroline Young.




A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Association to help fund a cure for this terrible disease.
