Obituary of Samuel Baird Stevenson, Jr.

Samuel Baird Stevenson, Jr., a long time resident of Darien, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, CT. Born in 1931 in Old Greenwich, CT, he was the son of the late Samuel Baird and Anne Elizabeth (Gourley) Stevenson. He was 77. Sam practiced Dentistry in Darien for 36 years. He was a member of Noroton Presbyterian Church, a long time member of the Choir and a former Deacon and Elder. He was an avid sailor and was a member of the Noroton Yacht Club, a member and officer of Senior Men's Association, a member and officer of American Red Cross and an officer of the Connecticut State Dental Association. Sam is survived by his wife of 47 years, Judy Loyd Stevenson of Darien; two sons, Peter Baird Stevenson of Hoboken, NJ and Andrew Clinton Stevenson of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters, Bonnie Sparrow of Freetown, MA and Sandra S. Norelli of Darien and four grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother and two sisters. A Memorial Service will be held at Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Road, Darien on Monday, September 8, 2008 at 10:00 AM.
