Obituary of George William Calvosa, M.D.

Dr. George William Calvosa, a resident of Darien, CT for the past 12 years, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2008 at Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk, CT. Born in 1933 in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Ralph and Helen (Shainen) Calvosa. He was 75. Mr. Calvosa graduated from New York University in 1960, and received his medical degree in 1965 from the University of Bologna in Italy. He was in private practice in Radiology in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn for 25 years, and, subsequently, was the Director of Radiology for the Brooklyn VA Medical Center. Most recently, he was a staff radiologist at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Yonkers, NY. Dr. Calvosa was a Fellow in the American College of Radiology, and a former President of the Bay Ridge Medical Society and the Kings County Medical Society. He is survived by his wife, Frances Tramontana Calvosa of Darien, CT; two sons, Gregory George Calvosa of Maplewood, NJ and Christopher George Calvosa of Darien and one daughter, Michele Calvosa of Kew Gardens, Queens, NY. He is also survived by two brothers, Ralph Calvosa of Brooklyn, NY and Robert Calvosa of Annandale, NJ and two sisters, Regina Lambert of Flagler Beach, FL and Finita Shicoff of New Jersey. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, October 16, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Friday, October 17, 2008 at 12:00 PM. Interment will be private.
