Obituary of Jon Weston Norris Wright
Jon Weston Norris Wright of Darien, Connecticut and Dania Beach, Florida went to be with the Lord July 2, 2009 after a lengthy battle with heart disease. He was born June 18, 1932 in Adel, Iowa and born again Sept. 9, 1949. He lived most of his adult life in Sioux City, Iowa.
Jon served in the Korean War and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Iowa State University. He was District Manager for American Family Insurance and District Sales Manager for Grolier Encyclopedias. He founded and operated Tree of Life Inc. which produced cassette tapes of the Bible for the blind and for distribution through Christian book stores. Tree of Life was also the production facility for the cassette libraries of Operation Mobilization, a UK-based mission organization. For nearly 15 years Jon traveled extensively in North America with the founder of Operation Mobilization, George Verwer. He was honored at the 50th Anniversary of Operation Mobilization in the United States in October of 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia. Following his retirement, Jon designed and crafted custom furniture and created stained glass windows.
Jon is survived by his wife Barbara, two daughters Elizabeth Anderson and Sandra DeLashmutt, and seven grandchildren.
Services will be held celebrating his life at Landmark Baptist Church, 66 Crescent Street, Stamford, Connecticut, on Tuesday, July 7 at 10 o'clock AM. A reception will follow at 53 Blueberry Lane in Darien. Those unable to attend are invited to sign the guestbook at www.lawrencefuneralhome.com under obituaries.
