Obituary of Malcolm James Edgerton, Jr.
Malcolm James Edgerton, Jr., a resident of Stamford, CT, died on Monday, May 12, 2008 in Stamford. Born in 1920 in New York City, NY, he was the son of the late Edna Anna Fischer and Malcolm James Edgerton. He was 88.
Mr. Edgerton received a BA degree from Yale University and a JD degree from New York University. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was an attorney and partner with White and Case in New York.
Mr. Edgerton was a board member and past president of the Stamford Museum and Nature Center. He was also a board member of the Edwin Gould Services for Children, the Edwin Gould Foundation, the Stamford Community Foundation, Fairfield Community Foundation, the Stamford Health Foundation, Kaiser Health Plan of North East, a board member and board chair of the New Canaan Country School and past chairman of the Yale Alumni Fund.
Mr. Edgerton is survived by his wife Jane Lowe Edgerton; four children, Elizabeth, Adele, Anne and Malcolm; three stepchildren, Frances, Diana, Patten; seven grandchildren and seven step-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Janet E. Lanman of Bethesda, MD. He is predeceased by his first wife, Adele Edgerton and a sister, Edna F. Edgerton.
A private service will be held in the Chapel at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Darien for family and invited guests with a Memorial Service to be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at 4:00 PM.
