Obituary of Shirley Dexter Street

Shirley Dexter Street, a 70 year resident of Darien and a former resident of Rowayton, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 at home in Darien. Born on October 18, 1929 in Darien, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Lois (Finch) Dexter, Sr. She was 90.
Shirley grew up in Rowayton and graduated from Norwalk High School, class of 1947. She was raised in the Rowayton Baptist Church and became a charter member of the United Church of Rowayton and was a member of there Prayer Shawl Group. She was a member of the Darien Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary since the 1950’s and served on the Board until 2019.
She was a personal secretary to Lurelle “Bunny” Guild of Darien and Margaret Tjader Harris of Tokeneke. She was also secretary at the Darien Probate Court until retirement. She enjoyed designing and creating wedding gowns for family and friends. She was loved by all who met her and she will be greatly missed.
Shirley is survived by two daughters, Patricia Street, husband Pat Spinola of Florida and Wendy Baharian, husband Mark of Norwalk. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Raymond (Linda) Alfson and Tobias (Jennifer) Baharian and four great grandchildren, Amy and Joseph, and Nicole and Abagail. Also surviving is a sister, Judith Stoeckle and four step-grandchildren, Mike (Dhani) Spinola, Scott Spinola, Jeffrey (Anna) Spinola and Patricia (Kevin) Reid and two step great grandchildren, Maliya and Devin.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Raymond D. Street in 2013.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 2:30 PM at the United Church of Rowayton, 210 Rowayton Avenue, Rowayton with burial to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
