Obituary of Doreen Mortola LeMoult

Doreen Mortola LeMoult passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at her home in Darien, CT, on December 7, 2018. Doreen was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1943, and was the daughter of Dr. Doris S. Mortola of Rye, NY, and the late Dr. Edward J. Mortola, former President and Chancellor of Pace University in New York. She attended St. Augustines School in Larchmont, NY; School of the Holy Child in Rye, NY; Rosemont College in Rosemont, PA, where she received a BA in arts; and Montclair State College in Montclair, NJ, where she received a MA degree in educational psychology. Doreen spent most of her career in magazine editing, including at Chemical Week and Family Circle, and worked in public relations for White Plains Hospital and various schools. She also did consulting work for a number of companies. Doreen married Michael A. LeMoult, her husband of over 51 years, in September 1967. She is survived by her mother, Dr. Doris Mortola, and her sister, Elaine Mortola Clark, both of Rye, NY; her husband, Michael; her son, Eric and his wife Kim of Alexandria, VA; and her son Craig and his wife Julia of Newton, MA. Her family is eternally grateful for the loving care of Sheffield Powell-Campbell, Doreens care taker and friend. Doreen was an Elder at the Noroton Presbyterian Church, and it was her faith and her deep love for her family and many friends that gave her the strength to overcome numerous health challenges over the years. A memorial service for family and friends to celebrate her life will be held in the spring at the Noroton Presbyterian Church in Darien, CT.
