Jen I wanted to attach this poem. I heard it the other day and I think it is so beautiful. The Little Ship by Maria Shriver I stood watching as the little ship sailed out to sea. The setting sun tinted his white sails with a golden light, and as he disappeared from sight a voice at my side whispered, “He is goneâ€. But the sea was a narrow one. On the farther shore a little band of friends had gathered to watch and wait in happy expectation. Suddenly they caught sight of the tiny sail and, at the very moment when my companion had whispered, “He is gone†a glad shout went up in joyous welcome, “Here he comes!â€

Nancy and family I just now read of Bob's passing. I am devastated to put it mildly. We go back over 65 years to the start of first grade in Austin. We did jusr everything together even rooming topgether at the U of Mn after college. This afternoon I stopped at Churchfor a visit (which I don't so that often) and as I meditated and said some pprayers I thought of Boband asked our God to take care of him. Little did I know. I wish I could be there to celebrate his life with you. Bob was one of the good guys. Incidentally he is the 4th of oour class of '54 to pass away in the last six weeks. Love Tom and Linda Healy

To the Family of Bob: Bernie and I would like you to know that you are in our thoughts and in our prayers. Although I didn't know Bob real well personally, Bernie thought the world of him. He shared with me the good times he and Bob had growing up and always spoke very highly of him. He was a wonderful person and the little bit I did share with him I felt he was extra special. Bernie has Parkinson's disease and now has dementia but still remembers Bob. Our prayers are with you. Bernie and Gayle Carey

Bob was one of my best friends in high school. We sat next to one another in a lot of classes and laughed together a lot. He was always fun to be around and I knew he was very smart too. I thought he would go a long ways in whatever career he chose and he did. I'm going to miss him a lot but I will always have my good memories of him. My sympathy to all in his family.

Dear Jennefer, May I offer my condolences to you and your family? Your father was a joyful colleague of mine at Harcourt. I am offering Buddhist chants for him and his loved ones. Here is an ancient Chinese poem recited by some Zennists at such a time as this: The Human Route Coming empty-handed, going empty-handed - that is human. / When you are born, where do you come from? / When you die, where do you go? / Life is like a floating cloud which appears. / Death is like a floating cloud which disappears. / The floating cloud itself originally does not exist. / Life and death, coming and going, are also like that. / But there is one thing which always remains clear. / It is pure and clear, not depending on life and death. / Then what is the one pure and clear thing?

Dear Mary and family, Losing someone you love is very painful. But grief expressed and experienced has a potential for healing that eventually can strengthen and enrich life. I hope people who care about you take care of you, even though you are strong and self-sufficient. Especially when you live away from family, true friends can offer shoulders for you to cry on as you begin to recover. I’ve always believed our joys are magnified, and our sorrows are diminished when we share them. We share your sorrow, and are so sorry for your loss. Love, Amy Reichbach, Samantha and Julia Henschel

Dearest Mary & Bill & Family, So saddened to hear of the grief you and your family are experiencing. It is a difficult time and our thoughts are with you. It was many years ago now that we encountered a "well remembered moment" as we were greeted by a calming voice and welcome smile from a beautiful person named Mary "Biewen." Beautiful people cause beautiful things to happen. Without ever meeting your father, Bob, we know he was beautiful. Sending some words that were comforting to us at such a time. They are concise and from a very wise and compassionate soul. "What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never loose, for all that we love deeply becomes a part of us."
