Obituary of Barbara Ann Kovacs

Barbara Ann Kovacs, a resident of Darien, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT. Born in 1948 in Stamford, she was the daughter of Georgiann T. Matlak Matthys and the late Robert A. Matthys.
Barbara was a teacher at Playdates and was a member of St. John R.C. Church in Darien.
Besides her mother, Barbara is survived by her husband of 37 years, Stephen Kovacs; one daughter, Jennifer Strada, two sons, Stephen Kovacs, Jr. and Matthew Kovacs and two grandchildren, Joey Strada and Ava Strada all of Darien. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Cynthia Scheckler.
Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R.C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
