Obituary of Louis Szivos

Louis Szivos, a resident of Darien, CT since 1942, died peacefully in his home surrounded by love on Sunday, August 10, 2008. Born in 1921 in Norwalk, CT, he was the son of the late Louis Szivos, Sr. and Bertha Farkas Szivos. He was 86. Louis served as a Petty Officer, First Class with the U.S. Navy during World War II serving on the U.S. Yosemite. He was a 58-year member of the Springdale Fire Department and was a long time active volunteer. He established Darien Auto Body in 1946 and was owner and president for 52 years. He a was founder, past president and district director of the Auto Body Associations of Connecticut; a founder, past president, officer and Director of Southern Fairfield County Body Shop Association and past state president of the Auto Body Division of the Connecticut Trades Association. Louis is survived by his daughter, MaryLou M. Szivos and her life partner Elaine A. Seckler of Basking Ridge, NJ and a son, Lawrence L. Szivos of Darien; and two grandchildren, Robert and Thomas Szivos both of Darien. He is also survived by a brother, Frank Szivos and his wife, Eileen, of Norwalk, CT. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy M. Szivos in 1991 after 49 dedicated and loving years of marriage; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Szivos; a sister, Mary Sheehan and two brothers Alex Szivos and Bill Szivos. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 1864 Post Road, Darien on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan.
