He was 68 years old. Arch grew up in Glasgow where he graduated from Allan Glen's School for Boys. He trained to become a master clock and watchmaker and achieved distinction as a fellow of The British Horological Institute. After starting his own business, he married his high school sweetheart and moved with her to Flushing, NY to pursue his education and career in the US. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics from Queens College and later returned to school to attain his MBA from the University of Connecticut in Management. His career soon included positions at Bulova Watch Company and subsequently NASA, where he was responsible for the Accutron timing devices on the successful Apollo 11 mission to the moon. He then managed divisions at both American Cystoscope Makers, Inc. in Stamford, and Phillips Medical Corp. in Shelton. He most recently owned his own business in Norwalk, which he ran for almost 20 years and retired from in 2006. Throughout his life, he was active in his son's activities. Arch became a Cubmaster in the Cub Scouts and coached various soccer teams including one of the initial Darien Travel Team Programs. He was a classic car aficionado and enjoyed going to car shows throughout New England. He spent the last 4 years of his life thoroughly enjoying his two grandsons who lived close by. He was very active in their lives but was hampered by an ever increasing medical schedule which eventually enveloped his life. After overcoming many medical challenges, he received a kidney transplant in July 2008 but unfortunately had complications months later that led to his passing. He is survived by his very loving & dedicated wife Morag; his son Colin and his wife Tulie, and his two grandsons Aidan & Dallas all of Darien. He is also survived by his brothers Jim White of Whitby, England; Robert White of Aberdeen, Scotland; and sister, Marlene McKenzie also of Aberdeen.
