John A Poccia a lifelong resident of Darien passed away December 7, 2008 at his home. John was the son of the late Phillip and Congetta (Docenza) Poccia. He was 85. John graduated from Darien High school and then worked for several different companies including, various local Country Clubs, Consolidated Diesel, Grasso Construction, The Care Center, FG DeLuca Realty and Northern Trust Company. He finished his working career by running his own Handyman business. He was also a longtime member of the Piedmont Association of Darien. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Barbara Ruscoe Poccia, one son, Jack A. Poccia and partner Linette Mack both of Darien, one daughter, Linda S. DeLuca and husband Frank of Greenwich and one brother, Fred Poccia of Darien. He was pre-deceased by his three sisters, Janette Memoli, Clara Pennelli and Mary Broadhurst. Calling hours will be held at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd., Darien from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday, December 10, 2008. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST John's RC Church in Darien on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at 11:00AM. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien.
