Elizabeth Herzog Morehouse died peacefully at the age of 85 on Monday December 22 at Courtland Gardens, Stamford CT, after a lengthy illness. Born August 11, 1923 in Atchison, KS, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth Herzog. Elizabeth was a long time resident of Darien, and the beloved wife of Philip Abbe Morehouse whom she married in 1997. Mrs. Morehouse, a graduate of Hunter College, was a former realtor with Kelly Associates in Darien. She was a member of Wee Burn Country Club, and took great pride in having been a dancer in the Wee Burn Follies. Elizabeth enjoyed sailing and travel throughout her life. While married to Philip, she took great pride in supporting his association with the First Infantry Division, attending their annual Divisional and Officer's reunions and traveling with the Division to Europe. Traveling included special trips to Normandy to honor those who died during the D-Day invasion, including Philip's brother Capt. Alan R. Morehouse, who died June 6, 1944 on Omaha Beach in Normandy, France. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Morehouse is survived by her daughters, Linda Maureen Jones of Stamford, CT and Allison Jones Vasseur of Shoreline, WA; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, her cherished twin Lillian Weaver and her husband of Redding, CA, and Maureen Greenen and her husband of Glenshaw, PA. She was pre-deceased by her former husband Ronald Conrad Jones; two children, Ronald Conrad Jones Jr. and Marilyn Jones Figueroa; and a brother Ernest Herzog. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service in celebration of Elizabeth's life will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the First Congregational Church, 14 Brookside Road, Darien.
