Obituary of Larry W. Peterson

Larry W. Peterson of Darien, CT died Thursday, December 25 at his home of pancreatic cancer. He was 74 years old. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, he was son of the late Laurence Peterson and Wavie Williams Peterson. He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Maureen Gallagher Peterson; two children and their spouses, Eric and Cheryl Peterson of Moorpark, CA; Lisa and Rob Markey of Wellesley, MA; and four grandchildren, Lauren and Shane Peterson, and David and Rachel Markey. Also surviving are his sisters, Patricia Pinegar, Lauralee Passey, and brother David Peterson. In 1986, he was predeceased by his wife of 28 years, M. Louise Peterson. He graduated from Brigham Young University in 1958 and UC Berkeley School of Law in 1961. During more than 30 years in legal publishing, he became CEO of Matthew Bender Publishing Company and group VP of publishing for Times Mirror Company. He was an active volunteer with AmeriCares, Literacy Volunteers, and Shelter for the Homeless in Stamford. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 8 on Monday, December 29 at the Edward Lawrence Funeral home, 2119 Post Road, Darien. Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church of Darien, 14 Brookside Road, Darien on Tuesday, December 30 at 9 am. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, New Canaan.
