Lois W. Clarke, a resident of Stamford for over 50 years, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2009 in Stamford. Born in 1916 in Delaware, OH, she was the daughter of the late James Marvin and Mary Weaver Cooke Wilson. She was 92. Lois was raised in Pennsylvania and New York states. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Stamford, serving as a Deacon and was active on various other boards and committees. She and her late husband, George, traveled the world extensively. She is survived by her children, George A. Clarke, Jr. of Raymond, NH; Rosemary Ellen Clarke of Albuquerque, NM; and Gordon Wilson Clarke of Oxford, CT. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Scott Pitkin, Jeffrey Clarke and Robert Godzeno and two great grandchildren, Ethan and Garrett. She was predeceased by her husband of over 69 years, George A. Clarke and two daughters, Linda Jeanne Clarke and Jeanne Elaine Clarke Godzeno. A private graveside service will be held Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien, CT. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Congregational Church of Stamford, Walton Place, Stamford, CT 06901.
