Obituary of Barbara J. Bardsley

Barbara Cleveland Jenks Bardsley, age 92, died Friday, September 4, 2009 at the Richard Rosenthal Hospice Residence in Stamford, CT. She was born and raised in Rhode Island and was a descendent of Roger Williams, the founder of the state of Rhode Island. She was a 60 year resident of Darien, CT. She was a unit secretary at The Stamford Hospital for more than 20 years. Barbara was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Barbara enjoyed her family, boating and the beach and the door was always open for a visit and a cup of coffee. She enjoyed reading and sharing this quiet time with her cats on her lap. She found great joy in visits and phone calls from her children and grandchildren and she loved to hear what was happening in their lives. She is survived by her daughter Virginia Bardsley Belvin of Darien, CT, her son Alan Jenks Bardsley of Pierson, Fl, her son Phillip Lyman Bardsley and her daughter in law Sandra Bardsley of Stamford, CT. She was predeceased by her husband Lyman Bardsley and her daughter Janice Barbara Scinto. She was grandmother to 11 children; Phillip L Bardsley, Jr., Caitlin and Tessa Bardsley of Stamford, CT, Robert J Belvin of Stuart, FL, Brian K Belvin of Shelton, CT, Jon S Belvin of Lakewood, CO, Christopher L Belvin of Federal Heights, CO, Krista Sturmer of San Ramon, CA, Erika Mulvey of Highlands Ranch, CO, Steven Bardsley of Marietta, GA and Michael Bardsley of Manchester, CT. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, Adam and Keegan Belvin, Tia Belvin, Benjamin and Avery Janice Mulvey, Katherine Elizabeth Bardsley and Brett Jaudon. There will be no calling hours. Service and interment will be private. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the home of Phillip and Sandra Bardsley of Stamford, CT. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care, 1029 E. Main Street, Stamford, CT 06902.
