Obituary of Myrtle Savory Thompson

Myrtle Savory Thompson, a resident of Darien, CT for over 60 years, died Saturday, August 22, 2009 in Trumbull, CT after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Luther F. Thompson Born in Manchester, NH on December 15, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Ethel Edwards Savory. She attended Manchester schools and graduated from Boston University with a degree in Music Education. She taught public school music in Darien for a number of years. An accomplished violinist, she taught lessons to many area students. Before her illness, she had been an active member of the congregation of the Noroton Presbyterian Church. Most recently she had led a small group of ladies singing regularly in nursing homes in the area. She is survived by two daughters, Judith Seeley and her husband, Larry, of Opelousas, LA; Gail Thomas and her husband, Robert, of Ontario, Canada; and one son Bruce Thompson and his wife, Terrie, of Fairfield, CT. She leaves behind eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A memorial service will be held at the Noroton Presbyterian Chapel, 2011 Post Road, Darien on Monday, October 12, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
