I've known Janet since 1961. This obituary has stunned me. We have lost a beautiful person. Our High School class assigned me the task of finding Janet to notify about our 50th high school class reunion. May God rest her soul and grant peace to her family. Janet, you will be sorely missed by a great many people. We love you.

Janet was one of those people who touched my life deeply and was always on my heart. I was a student of hers in 2004 and going through a transition in my career. She truly cared about her students and was an amazing inspiration. I was able to see her many times since taking her class when she would invite me back to participate in panels in her class, I always loved seeing her in action and engaged with the students. What a special lady and friend. What a beautiful tribute and service your friends and family had for you last week. I will miss you Janet. With Love, Brad Ellis

So sad to learn that she has passed. Professor's Kiehl's course changed my life for the better and her genuine support as I made a huge career transition touched me deeply. I regret that other students will not benefit from her gifts.

I was a student of Prof.Kiehl's several years ago and am sad to hear of her passing which I just recently learned. She was tough, no doubt but the lessons she taught are the kind that you remember. I recall that even though she had a long commute to the Hartford campus, she always made the time to talk and be there for her students. She was such an inspiration and will definitely be missed.

Janet is one of the most favored people in my life. It is said that people come into your life for a "reason, a season, or a lifetime." Janet was all three of these. We met in Cleveland while she was working on her PhD during a very challenging time of my life. Her discipline in working this and making time for others is a lesson I continue to try to emulate and achieve. She was my mentor and inspriation and guide for many years as I got my own life back together. Her sense of humor combined with a no-nonsense approach to live and business are lessons that I try to learn and pass on to my own mentees. She challenged me to be my best and to reach for stars when I would hestiate. She lived her life to its fullest, and her example taught me to do the same. Her life touched two of my sons as well as my own as she mentored Mark and Jason in their own personal & professional development. She will remain in my heart always.

I am very saddened to learn of Dr. Kiehl's passing. I took her course in Career Dynamics at the UCONN School of Business in the summer of 2005, and this was the course that has had the most impact on my career, and in and of itself, was worth the entire MBA program.
Dr Kiehl's intelligence, expertise, and friendship were gems to behold. She has had an enormous influence in my professional development and career path.
Janet was a wonderful person and an outstanding professional.
I miss her dearly.
