Obituary of Daniel Stamatis

Daniel Stamatis, a life long resident of Norwalk, CT, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk. Born in 1927 in Norwalk, he was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. James Stamatis. He was 82. Daniel graduated from Norwalk High School in 1946 where he was captain of the soccer team. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korea War. He worked for Burndy Corp. for 30 years as a tool and die assembler. He also worked as a landscaper for the Darien Board of Education for 10 years. He was a parishioner of St. Matthew Parish He had a love of fishing, landscaping and woodworking. He is survived by his son, James Stamatis of Norwalk and two grandchildren, Nicole and Jessica Stamatis both of Norwalk. He is also survived by a brother Alex Stamatis of Stamford and a sister, Penny Laganas of Hollis, NH. He was predeceased by his wife Louise Marinella Stamatis. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Sunday, December 20, 2009 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Matthew Parish, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery in Norwalk.
