Obituary of Catherine M. Barry

Catherine M. Barry, a long time resident of the Bronx, NY, a 12 year resident of Sterling Village in Boynton Beach, FL and a resident of Stamford for the past three years, passed away on Friday, December 18, 2009 in Stamford, CT. Born in 1915 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Johannah Lane and Charles Hoffmeister. She was 94. Catherine graduated from Julia Richmond High School in New York City. She worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. She is survived by five children, Catherine Cullen of Middletown, NY; Maureen Schloss of Darien, CT; Eileen Paradiso of Mohegan Lake, NY; Patricia Loeser of Westport, CT and Edmond James Barry of Newtown, PA; and eight grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Marie Hoffmeister of New York, Margaret Emby of Rhode Island, Dorothy Allen of New York and Betty Remsen of Illinois; and one brother, Alfred Hoffmeister of California. She was predeceased by her husband, Edmond J. Barry; a daughter, Joanne Barry; four brothers, Edwin, Francis, Robert and Charles Hoffmeister and one sister, Eileen Hoffmeister. Friends may call at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Monday, December 21, 2009 and Tuesday, December 22, 2009 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John R. C. Church, 1986 Post Road, Darien on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Raymond's Cemetery in the Bronx, NY.
