Obituary of Barbara J. Stanton

Barbara J. Stanton, a resident of Stamford and a former longtime resident of Elmsford, NY, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2010 in Stamford. Born in 1937 in Highland Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Marjorie McGrath Johnson. She was 72.
Barbara volunteered with the Elmsford Little League and the Boy Scouts of America in Elmsford, NY. She was a supporter of The Feerick Center of Social Justice and was a long time school administrator at Alexander Hamilton High School.
She is survived by her five children, Michael K. Stanton, Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Stamford, CT; Timothy J. Stanton and his wife Elizabeth of Fairfield, CT; Brian P. Stanton and his wife, Melissa of Davidsonville, MD; Matthew J. Stanton and his wife Barbara of Mendham, NJ and Meagan P. Fahey of Stamford, CT; and 12 grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, James Johnson of Camano Island, WA and Robert Scott of Daytona, FL and one sister, Jean Ann Strack of New Windsor, NY. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael K. Stanton in 2009.
The family will receive friends at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien on Sunday, February 14, 2010 from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and on Monday, February 15, 2010 from 12:00 to 2:00 PM and 4:00 to 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven in Hawthorne, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Michael K. Stanton Memorial Scholarship Fund, Attn: Fordham Law School, 140 West 62nd Street, New York, NY 10023.
