Obituary of Ruth M. Peterson

Ruth M. Peterson of Jennings Drive, Bennington VT passed away peacefully May 30, 2010. Born to Jennie and Ernest Peterson of Stamford, Connecticut on Feb 13, 1917, she lived most of her life in Stamford only moving to Vermont due to illness in 2008 to be with family. Ruth worked for many years in New York City as an executive assistant in the financial sector. Her last 25 years of work were in New Canaan, Connecticut working for Mr. Harlan Anderson. She enjoyed traveling and was able to see many exotic places around the world. Family and tradition were very important to Ruth. She was very proud of her Swedish heritage and enjoyed sharing that with her family, especially during the holidays. She loved to laugh and had a wonderful sense of humor. She enjoyed her friends and each one was a special treasure to her. Ruth is survived by her nieces, Susan Steckley and husband Brian of Bennington, Vt., Audrey Thompson of Santa Rosa Beach Florida and Charlotte Peterson also of Florida, 4 great nieces; Lisa Martinez and husband Jay of South Burlington VT, Renee Speir and husband Jody of Brunswick, NY, Kristen Pierce and husband Tim of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Louise Smith and husband Darrell of Enid Oklahoma. Ruth was predeceased by her sister Helen Peterson, a brother Eric Peterson, a brother Emil Peterson, and a nephew Robert Peterson. Ruth was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Stamford, CT all of her life. She saw many pastors come and go and enjoyed them all. She remembered the church in many stages of development over the years and was pleased to see it prosper. E. P. Funeral services for Ruth will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church in Stamford, Connecticut on Friday, June 4, 2010 beginning at 11:00 A.M. Calling hours will take place in the church chapel one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at Fairfield Memorial Park Cemetery.
