Obituary of Joan A. Conlin

Joan A. Conlin, a resident of Stamford passed away on September 29, 2010. Born in Brooklyn on October 9, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Peter A. and Lillian Vetter Dolan. She was 82. Joan was a resident of lower Fairfield County for 35 years. She graduated from St Joseph's College for Women in Brooklyn and received a Masters from Brooklyn College. She was an Adjunct Professor at Iona College, where she worked for ten years before retiring in 2001. Prior to that, she was a high school teacher. Joan was also a published poet who had a great passion for painting, writing, music and film. She is survived by three sons, Paul C. Conlin (Marie) of Mountain Lakes, NJ, Thomas A. Conlin (Jeanne) of Thornwood, NY, Joseph C. Conlin (Linda) of Fairfield, CT, one daughter Maria Smith (Stephen) of Mountainside, NJ, one brother Paul Dolan of Manhattan and one sister Shirley Dolan of Stony Brook, NY. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Walter F. Conlin Jr. Calling hours will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Rd. Darien, CT 06820 on Sunday Oct. 3, 2010 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A prayer service will be held at the Edward Lawrence Funeral Home on Monday Oct. 4, 2010 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Darien. A private memorial Mass will be held on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at 10:00AM.
